It belongs to the family known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID), and specifically a sub-group known as cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors. It is used in adults for the relief of signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. In conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, excess production of prostaglandins by your body can lead to pain and inflammation. This medicine works by decreasing the production of prostaglandins, effectively reducing pain and inflammation.
Do not take Celebrex 200mg capsule if you are allergic to Celecoxib or any of its ingredients. Inform your doctor if you had reactions to sulfonamide medicines, suffer from ulcers or bleeding in the stomach or intestines, or experienced adverse reactions to NSAID medications like aspirin. Before starting the treatment, inform your doctor because it is recommended to not take this medicine if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding. Do not take this medicine if you have severe liver or kidney disease, have inflammatory intestinal conditions, or have heart-related issues such as heart failure, heart disease, or circulation problems. Both Celebrex (celecoxib) and Aurobindo (rosuvastatin) are competitive inhibitors of the enzyme COX-2 which is responsible for degradation of cyclooxygenase. Celecoxib is specifically an inhibitor of the COX-2 enzyme which is then metabolised by the body to inhibit LDL-cholesterol (‘bad’ or ‘good’) and to reduce the ‘bad’ levels. Celebrex is specifically an inhibitor of the COX-2 enzyme which is then metabolised by the liver to inhibit ‘good’ and ‘bad’ enzymes. Celecoxib inhibits the action of COX-1 which is the enzyme which enzymes to inactivate prostaglandins. COX-2 is the main pathway by which the body processes the different hormones involved in the growth and development of different bodily functions. Celecoxib, on the other hand, inhibits the COX-1 enzyme which is the enzyme that is responsible in some instances in the biosynthesis of cholesterol and other bad cholesterol. Celecoxib, on the other hand, inhibits the action of prostaglandins, the main culprits in diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Both Celebrex and Aurobindo are COX-2 inhibitors which means that by inhibiting the COX-2 enzyme they in turn inhibit the synthesis of bad cholesterol (and therefore bad ‘good’ cholesterol), reduce the ‘bad’ cholesterol levels (which are generally lower than the ‘good’ cholesterol levels, but still lower than the ‘bad’ cholesterol), and so on. Celecoxib in particular has been shown to be very effective in reducing the ‘bad’ cholesterol levels as well as the ‘good’ cholesterol levels. In fact, there is increasing evidence that in patients taking rosuvastatin, significantly more bad cholesterol is created than in patients taking Celebrex. On the other hand, there is less evidence that in patients taking rosuvastatin the decrease in bad cholesterol is more pronounced than in patients taking Celebrex. The evidence that COX-2 inhibitors are very effective in lowering bad cholesterol and ‘good’ cholesterol levels is limited. It has been suggested that Celecoxib may be useful in reducing the ‘bad’ cholesterol levels as well as ‘good’ cholesterol levels. In this case the reduction in bad cholesterol is particularly pronounced for patients taking rosuvastatin. In fact, the recommended starting dose of rosuvastatin for the reduction of bad cholesterol is 10 mg. However, rosuvastatin is only available in the US once a month, and in Europe, but not in the UK or the UK in which it is used. Celebrex, on the other hand, is only available in the US once a month, but in countries like the UK and in the USA in which it is used. Therefore it is very important that there is a very good indication that rosuvastatin is an effective treatment for patients with high cholesterol levels who take rosuvastatin, although rosuvastatin has not yet been shown to be as effective as Celebrex in reducing bad cholesterol levels. On the other hand, there is very little evidence that rosuvastatin is more effective than Celebrex in reducing bad cholesterol levels as well.
